At Emmetsburg First UMC, we are a Christ-centered community rooted in Wesleyan grace. We have been part of Emmetsburg for 150 years, and we value authentic connection, faithful service, and growing together in love of God and neighbor.
You are welcome here—just as you are. Come worship, grow, and serve with us!
As United Methodists, we believe Christians are called to actively engage with our world as we
Putting love into action is the way we follow Jesus’ Great Commission to make disciples for the transformation of the world. In the Wesleyan tradition of “practical divinity,” we seek to follow Jesus every day of the week, not just on Sundays!

Worship is central to who we are as United Methodists. It’s where we come together to praise God, hear Scripture, pray, and be renewed by the Spirit. In worship, we remember who God is and who we are called to be. Whether through music, silence, Word, or sacrament, worship grounds us in grace and sends us out to live our faith with courage and compassion. Worship is not just for Sundays—it’s a rhythm that shapes our lives and deepens our connection to God and one another.
Connection is core to our United Methodist tradition. We believe that faith is not meant to be lived alone—we are stronger when we walk together. Through shared ministry, prayer, and support, we build relationships that stretch beyond our local church, linking us to a global community of believers. This connection reminds us that we are part of something bigger: a church working together to share hope, serve others, and make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Serving joyfully is a way we share God's love in practical, meaningful ways. Whether it's lending a hand at church, helping a neighbor, or joining a mission project, joyful service flows from gratitude for all God has done. It’s not about obligation—it’s about opportunity. When we serve with open hearts and willing hands, we find purpose, build community, and reflect the joy of Christ to the world around us. Joyful service changes lives—sometimes even our own.
Discipleship is about learning to follow Jesus in real, everyday life. It means growing in faith, asking honest questions, and supporting each other as we try to live like Christ. Through small groups, Bible studies, prayer, and service, we help one another become more grounded in God’s love and more active in sharing that love with others. Discipleship isn’t just about knowing more—it’s about becoming more like Jesus in how we live, love, and serve.
We aim to love God and love others, and to be known for our love for one another. God is good, all the time, and we are a witness!
